Christmas Gifts

Whether you say Christmas or Xmas, a living plant gift like the Kiwi Christmas Tree is a gift that can be celebrated for years to come. A living plant makes the perfect Christmas gift that keeps giving long after the decorations are packed away. From the classic Kiwi Christmas Tree (Pōhutukawa), a symbol of the New Zealand summer, to lush ferns, orchids and lemon trees for long summer drinks, our Christmas gifts are a meaningful way to celebrate the season and will be enjoyed for years to come.

Each plant arrives beautifully boxed with a personalised card for Christmas, ready to be placed under the tree or sent directly to a loved one anywhere in New Zealand. Whether you are looking for Christmas flowers, a festive flowering plant, or a green gift for the home, a living plant is a thoughtful way to mark the season.
We have all felt the dread of buying a Christmas gift for the person who has everything, but a plant makes a unique and memorable Christmas gift. Our living gifts are a thoughtful choice for friends, family, and corporate Christmas gifting.

A Lime Tree is often gifted for the festive season and will be enjoyed for years to come. It is a gift that feels a little selfish in the best possible way, because we know we may be the ones enjoying the fruit in a drink or dish in 5 or 10 years. What other Christmas gift lasts like a lime tree? Certainly not a gift box or a bunch of flowers.

Or choose the Metrosideros with its bright red flowers that signify Christmas and bring back childhood memories of the beach and endless Summers. The varieties we use are relatives of the New Zealand native, but without all the problems. Our Metrosideros range of Christmas Tree Gifts are shrubs that are easily planted in a garden or a large pot and can be trimmed to shape.

If you are after a sense of grandeur for Christmas, the Grandiflora Orchid provides a statement plant for any home. With its elegant white flowers and glossy green leaves, it makes a beautiful living alternative to Christmas flowers.

If you are looking for 1 or 100 Christmas gifts, we can help bring the Christmas spirit to life with our living gifts. If you are interested in corporate Christmas gifts, call the team today on 0800 214 775 or email admin@giveplants.co.nz and we will put together a gift solution to wow your customers this Christmas.

Can I purchase early for Christmas?

Yes, you can purchase anytime and put “Christmas Delivery” in the note for packing and we will dispatch it as late as possible.

When do you cut off for Christmas Orders?

We cut off Christmas orders a few days before Christmas to help ensure all gifts arrive before the big day. On the home page of the site, we display the cut-off dates for South Island deliveries, rural deliveries and North Island deliveries. We normally hold orders open for last minute orders and work closely with our couriers to ensure the latest possible close off.

What are the best plants to give for Christmas for someone that has a beach house?

The two plants that come to mind for Christmas gifts are the Metrosideros, with its Christmas flowers, and a lemon tree. The Metrosideros grows well in coastal conditions and produces a mass of red summer flowers. Lemons are so handy at the beach, whether for a summer drink or on fish if you are lucky enough to catch some.

What do you give a cook for Christmas?

The answer is citrus, either a lemon or lime tree. Both are great for cooking and form the foundation for desserts, cocktails, or adding zest to a salad. One of the great summer salads would have to be a Thai beef salad with lime juice and fresh herbs from the garden.

What is a great novel Secret Santa gift?

Any of our Christmas plant gifts make a wonderful Secret Santa gift that will be remembered long after Christmas Day. A living plant is a thoughtful, lasting and growing gift from Secret Santa, and it is a great alternative to the usual novelty present, chocolate or gift box.
